Day 1: Influence Change & Support a Vision

Influencing change is hard. Change is something that people do not often enjoy and will frequently find change to be quite traumatic. Therefore, it is imperative that when facilitating change to adopt 21st century skills, we approach change with respect, understanding and great thought and consideration. In this session we look at ways to do just this, we tackle difficult conversations about change and unpack leadership skills that trainers should embody when working with educators.

Day 2: Know yourself and understand your style

Life is hard and in the hustle and bustle, we sometimes forget to STOP. A valuable lesson Chris Breen has taught us at Opennetworks. Together we take moments to stop and we take time to listen to our authentic selves. In this session we will give you tools that you can use to help you navigate your journey as you find your voice as a trainer. Being in a trainer space requires more than just the technical skill of using the tool. You need to understand what leadership qualities you resonate with and how you can establish yourself as a leader in order to effectively lead others. In this session we give you many strategies and tips that will help you find your voice as a trainer.

Day 3: Facilitate learning with Professionalism

When you start building training courses, they require a great deal of thought and consideration. There are many learning theories that can be applied in the process of developing courses that aim to inspire and empower. Communication is key when it comes to change and innovation. In this session we look at different technology frameworks and how you are able to reach a varied audience. It is so important that your training sessions are conducted where you communicate with respect, you are honest, you deliver with empathy and you are able to differentiate instruction. We unpack these topics in detail and walk through scenarios and help you to understand how to capture your training, provide and receive feedback and more.

Day 4: Deepen your Knowledge of Google for Education

As you know from doing Level 1 and Level 2, the Google offering is huge. There are so many products that you can use that enhance teaching and learning. However, there is a whole back end that you need to understand as well. The Google Admin Console plays an important part in the running of a school. You may encounter issues with accounts or sharing and often this is due to how an Admin Console is set up. In this session we explore some technical aspects of the Google environment. We delve into what sharing looks like, how you can push out apps, we unpack organisational structure as well as cover some important components of educational law.

Day 5: Storyboarding and filming

In the first minute you will introduce yourself and tell your story and in the remaining 2 minutes, you will do a screencast teaching a skill. In this session we will give you storyboarding templates that you can use when planning what you want to do. The session will be hosted by a trainer who has extensive video editing experience and will unpack the need to knows of video editing software. We will showcase the benefits of using time lapse and many other editing features. We will also show you tools that you can use in order to create these videos and introduce you to a team that can facilitate you in your video production. This is the final session and once completed you are ready to register for and complete the trainer’s skills assessment and start planning your video. We will meet again online in a month to work through the rest of your application content.

Follow up & providing help

Over the next month, you will get a one on one session with your trainer where together you will review your application and look at what you have put together. Your trainer will give you tips and feedback on the content and help you get it ready for submission. We will complete the trainer bootcamp with a final online session where you can reconnect with your fellow applicants and we will ensure that you are ready to click submit. We will guide and assist you as much as we can to ensure that you have the best possible application by the end of the bootcamp!

Top Tips

Due to the nature of our sessions, we recommend that you join the session with two screens or from two devices. That way, you can see your trainer as well as work in your drive at the same time. Alternatively, you could always split your screen. Watch this video to learn how to do just that if this is how you will be joining.
